The Town of Raszków is very important to me as Raszków is where my great-grandmother came from.
Raszków ['ra?kuf] is a town in Ostrów Wielkopolski County, Greater Poland Voivodeship, Poland, with 2,043 inhabitants (2004). It lies approximately 3 kilometres (2 mi) south-east of Skrzebowej, 10 km (6 mi) north of Ostrów Wielkopolski, and 104 km (64 mi) south-east of the regional capital Poznan.
Prior to 1945 it was in Germany. After World War II the region was placed under Polish administration and ethnically cleansed according to the post-war Potsdam Agreement. The native German populace was expelled and replaced with Poles.
I was there in Sept 1997. I returned to Poland in April 2011 with my wife and we hired a translator.
